An international service organization committed to "Service Above Self."
Weekly meetings are held each Thursday at 7:15 am at the Artist Colony Inn, lower level, on Van Buren Street in Nashville, Indiana
Nashville, located in the heart of Indiana's Brown County, blends history and community to create a small town atmosphere not easily forgotten.
Secluded, hospitable and charming, Nashville Indiana and Brown County have become a favorite destination for visitors and artists from all over the United States.
Nestled in the intersection of State Roads 135 and 46, Nashville serves as the county seat for Brown County. Nashville sits 50 miles south of Indianapolis, 16 miles west of Columbus and 16 miles east of Bloomington.
Branded as an artist colony, Brown County boasts of being the home to studios for many artists- including 250 galleries, craft and antique stores and restaurants and is the home of the Brown County Playhouse, the state’s longest running professional summer theatre. In the first half of the 1900's, famous artists including T.C. Steele, Carl and Genevieve Graf, V.J Cariana, Dale Bessire, L.O. Griffith, Ada and Adolph Shultz, Marie Goth and others established the first major artist colony in the Midwest in the areas surrounding Nashville. This tradition continues today as two local art alliances celebrate over 50 years of actively promoting the work of Indiana artists.
The beauty of the landscape and wildlife is also an asset to Nashville. Brown County’s lush forests, scenic overlooks and charming back roads are rich with seasonal beauty, deer, wild turkeys, small mammals and the occasional bald eagle, to name a few.
The Brown County Rotary Club has created this web site in order to take you on a virtual tour of this south central Indiana haven for artists, musicians and nature-lovers. Enjoy this virtual stroll, and be sure to join us as we celebrate a century old tradition of hospitality, local charm and beauty.
